Nexus 7, HTC One X, Asus Transformer, Toshiba Thrive...

Forums:

Hi, Top Sailor looks great but Play claims it is not compatible with my Nexus 7. Is this being addressed as I would love to sail on my tablet :-)

Thanks

Yes, we are aware of a problem on Nexus 7 (also HTC One X, Asus Transformer, Toshiba Thrive, and a few other devices with the newest graphics chipsets). This seems to be a common problem of applications and games that use advanced 3D graphics; screen flickering and black screen are the symptoms.

If you are using an Asus device, this is most probably a driver issue. According to what can be found on the web, this is a chipset/firmware/driver/system fault. Some suggest that rebooting the device helps because it frees graphics memory, but this seems to be only a temporary solution:

"...as someone else noted, it is a memory leak type issue at the firmware level. Most of this random advice (clear cache, clear dalvik, factory reset, limit background processes, reinstall latest firmware, cold boots, hard resets, etc.) will work temporarily because it affects the memory footprint of things in the system, but my system always eventually destabilizes."

So for Asus devices, upgrading the system is the only recommended way to solve these problems. They have been fixed for most Asus devices so far.

If you are using a non-Asus device, the problem concerns the interface between Android itself and handling graphics. We will post here when the solution is available.
