iPhone version?

Forums:

Hi all @ Mooncoder!

I have been a huge fan of your game for the past two years.
As a beginner, it has really helped me learn a lot about sailing techniques.

Since I now have an iPhone, I was wondering when we can expect the release of the iPhone version?
I have a couple of sailing buddies who also liked the game very much and would like to have it on their iphones. So I guess I can guarantee you at least three sales :D

Best regards and keep up the good work!

Hi Mingus,

We are glad you are a long-term fan of Top Sailor :-) The iPhone version (and the iPad version, too) are ready since 2010, but... we are still improving it! It currently looks like

and we do hope to release Top Sailor for iOS this summer. It is getting better and better every day :-)

Fair winds,

Maciej

Well that is great news. Now hurry up and release it! I miss my virtual practice on the days I cannot sail!

Best regards!

Hi guys!

Very happy to see Top Sailor finally released for iPhone.
The new 3D look is an amazing improvement. The fact that you actually sail the boat by looking at the shape of the sail and the heel of the boat make this the best dinghy simulation in existence. Also, the new camera options are excellent and they make it so much fun to watch the replays.

However, I do have a few suggestions:

  • It would be really useful if the camera in the "follow" mode would stay at the angle I set it to, and not automatically return to default position after a few seconds.
  • For those of us who are real sailors, it would be really great to have more realistic wind which doesn't change directions wildly and randomly. The wind on some courses makes it impossible to plan tacks, gibes and turns around the buoy. At least give us the options for steady wind like in the old versions.
  • Sail trim option "Icon and miniature" stopped working on my phone. I only get the small arrow and no icon whatever I do. Reinstalling the game doesn't help.
  • It would be nice to have playback at real-time speed, for better enjoyment.

Anyway, keep up the great work :-)

Indeed, now it is a first-person game :-)

It is so to avoid confusion of users who accidentally rotate view with their finger... but you are right, it would be nice to be able to see the boat from some perspective all the time. This feature is coming in version 5.3!

Yes, some courses have quickly changing winds. This is partially because it is a mobile game played usually on a mobile device, so things may change a bit faster than during real sailing... on some tracks :-) But this has been addressed in version 5.3.

Try disabling the "Hide miniature controls in close view" option.

You can adjust replay speed by tapping and holding the pause button.

Anyway, keep up the great work :-)

We will! Version 5.3 on its way :-)
